No Sleep for Me

For over 2 weeks now, sleep has not come easy. I can stay asleep if I ever get to sleep, but the "getting to sleep" part is the problem. My mind just races.

It got so bad that 2 nights last week I took Tylenol PM and went to bed an hour before my husband so that I could get to sleep in a silent room. But I refuse to take medicine every night to sleep.

I've tried relaxing, muscle-relaxing stretches; I've tried breathing techniques. I really don't know what else to try. Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. Sometimes reading a dull book helps me. Or working on a project and just not going to bed until later can help me as well. Sorry you are dealing with the insomnia!

  2. :/ Sorry Alison... my DH has insomnia sometimes and he takes Melatonin which is a more natural remedy. Also, it sounds silly but warm milk helps me when my mind is racing and I can't fall asleep.

  3. Hey girl I know you said that you don't want to take medication but how 'bout something "herbal"? Both my sister and my mom take Melatonin (sp?). You can find it in most grocery stores in the vitamin section. The whole point of it is that is supposed to help you relax enough to fall asleep but not make you feel "drugged".

  5. (hugs) - that is the worst. Stress seems to make sleep a commodity. Maybe accupuncture? Just a thought. I've had some success with it lately.

  6. I take Tylenol PM. I've also found that exercising regularly helps me get to sleep easier.

  7. where are you located? I think we might be in the same city. Or at least your ISP is here. I've been freaking out that someone I know IRL has found out about my blog here b/c I've had an uptick in the visits to my blog from my city in the past 2 weeks.
