Another Curveball

So my lab is totally on top of things. I thought I wouldn't hear from them until at least 2 this afternoon. But it turns out they left a message on my home machine at 11 and then called my cell at noon because I hadn't called back yet.

But the news, it wasn't what we'd hoped. Of the 13 eggs, 1 was overripe as expected, but that still left 12. But it turns out that I have bad eggs. Seven of the 12 looked "abnormal" with dark, granulated-looking yolks. Three of those looked less abnormal so they have been segregated and fertilized as well.

There are five that looked ok, and were fertilized and hopefully will grow.

So bad eggs. Blech.

  3. hang in there, a. i know it probably doesn't help to hear this right now but that's one amazing thing about IVF - they can find out things about you that they wouldn't have known without it. i have everything crossed for you and those beautiful 5 little embies!

Now why the hell would a woman in her twenties have egg issues? It's so freaking unfair.

  7. Well maybe they now know why you weren't getting pregnant. I hope those five continue growing and do great!
