Germ-o-phobe

I think I'm turning into a germ0phobe! I am determined to stay well during this IVF cycle. Now, I will start off and admit that I have no fall allergies and that helps. I am one of the few people who is not sneezing, sniffling and coughing. Though something in the air is causing these headaches because I've met more than a few people recently who have been having them too!

Back to the germs:
Example 1: at the gym, I've always cleaned off the machine after I use it, but I've started cleaning before I use it now, too. Just can't trust in cold & flu season that someone else wiped down the machine!

Example 2: my grocery store offers Clorox wipes at the front entrance to wipe down the cart if you'd like, I've always laughed at them. Yesterday I walked straight over to the dispenser grabbed one and practically disinfected the entire cart!

I want this, my possibly one and only IVF cycle to every chance and I don't want to look back and think, "could it have worked if I hadn't been sick and my body fighting off germs instead of welcoming embies?" I know it's a little far-fetched, but I want my body to be focused on one thing - the new inhabitant of the human kind, not the germy kind!

  1. I am totally the same way during treatments! I even started carrying around hand sanitizer in my purse. Bath and Body works has some cute travel size ones.

  3. I know exactly what you mean! A week or so before I was due to start stims, I was assigned a patient at work with a funky bacterial infection. Let's just say I wore every piece of protective equipment I could find (I looked for one of those suits from the movie "Outbreak" but we don't have them). Even still, I came home, stripped down completely, and threw everything in the washing machine on the "sanitize" cycle and took a shower before bed. I'm not normally like that, but I wasn't taking any chances!

  5. Honestly, Alison, those both sound like pretty good practices to me, especially during cold and flu season. But I think you are right--why not give your body every chance at being as healthy as possible!! I really hope this cycle works out for you, so keep sanitizing to your heart's desire, IMO!

  6. You're so right! You don't need your body working overtime trying to fight off germs when you want all of your body's energy going to make a baby!!! I think I'll be the same way during my cycle, for sure!
