Urology 101

This afternoon we went on a field trip. To the urology office.

Met the urologist. Loved him! He is a year older than my husband and graduated from the same local high school as me - although 8 years prior.

Blood was drawn and a brief physical exam was all that happened today. They scheduled an ultrasound for my husband the middle of next and prescribed a repeat S/A for the week after next.

We will then go back to the urologist's office for a follow-up visit in 4 weeks (roughly). It is then that we will learn what all the tests revealed and what options there are in that particular case.

Fortunately, all of this is covered by insurance because it is "men's health" not "infertility."

  1. I'm so glad to hear you had a great urology appointment. Hoping that you get really good news in 4 weeks :)

  2. Glad to hear you had a good urology appt, although it bugs me that "men's health" always gets all the coverage men need, but "women's health" is often considered not necessary, elective treatment.

  3. I'm with you, Missy. Technically, I should ovulate whether or not I'm trying to have a baby. My body is not working properly if I don't ovulate. But it's considered IF, so the insurance doesn't have to pay. So wrong.

  4. I am so glad that urologist appt went well, and that you liked him. A bit annoyed about the difference between Mens and Womens health though- as you say you should be ovulating whether you are trying to get pregnant or not.

Hopefully things like that will change in the future. But right now it is just great that you don't have to worry about paying for anything out of pocket.

  5. That was the same with us, and I had the same reaction. Not fair that his, diagnostic tests are covered, but not mine, but I'll take it!

I'm glad you liked the doctor! Hope he has some good solutions for you.
